bike-smooch.jpgYou might regret asking us to post those honeymoon photos… there are quite a few of them! So to make it all more digestible, we’ve broken down the photos into different chunks. So today’s offering provides somewhat of a smorgasbord of our trip to St. Lucia, a windward island, an island part of the Lesser Antilles and an island in the southern Caribbean somewhat north of Venezuela.

When we were thinking about where to go for our homneymoon, there were quite a few possibilities, including Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Hawaii… Then we realized, what we really needed was paradise, close by, requiring us to do nothing and feel no guilt if all we did was lounge around. Hence, the Caribbean.

Jay’s uncle is an old Caribbean hand, having been to almost every island, or maybe every island, and Jamaica 68 times. He gave it to us in few words, St Lucia or the ABCs. His first choice, St. Lucia. A little websploration confirmed that this was a great idea, especially seeing as bananas still far outranked tourism in contributing to the nation’s GDP.

The closer was when, a week after spotting Anse Chastanet resort on the web and making an enquiry, we spotted a double-page spread of it in Conde Naste Traveler magazine. We booked, only to spot it again as one of the best Caribbean resorts in Travel and Leisure’s annual survey. And a few months later, there is was again in National Geographic Traveler. We took that as three thumbs up from the competing publications.

And the pictures and prose bore out their promise. We had a fabulous time and would love to return, next time probably doing it villa style. (More about that later.)
