Unlike other trips home to visit family and friends, this time was special. We had the honour of introducing Calvin to the other half of his family. His grandma, Bobo, had to restrain herself when we arrived because Calvin was asleep in his carseat. However, she soon had her first bonding opportunity when we discovered that we had left one of our bags at the airport and had to rush back to find it. But it was really the next morning when grandma and grandson got to get to know each other (pictured above). And their bond has grown stronger.
Equally special and equally eager was Calvin’s uncle, my brother (seen here). He organized two neighbouring, seafront houses along South Africa’s Wild Coast, where Calvin got to know and enjoy hanging out with his aunt and uncle for almost a week.
