fire.jpgIt was really 9/11 that changed my thinking of a ‘room with a view.’ Until that day that particular turn of phrase usually called to mind something pleasant, an aesthetically pleasing vista. On September 11th, that phrase suddenyl expanded to include front row views of disaster from one’s office or apartment window.

This morning, a usually calming East River view that looks on to Brooklyn, held some of that same morbid fascination. One side of our office provided a perfect view of the billowing smoke and burning Brooklyn building(s) that constituted the worst fire since 9/11.

On the positive side, it served to remind one that you were having quite a good day by comparison.
