No, not a typo of the famous “Preakness” horse race. The “peakness” I’m referring to is the beautiful changing of nature’s cloak of leaves. As the official “I love New York” website marks, this is *the* week for peak leaf changing in our park of New York.
The weather has vacilated between miserable (cold, wet and windy) and marvellous (warm and sunny.) On a day somewhere between these two extremes — quite windy and chilly but pleasantly sunny — last week, I enjoyed a day off wandering about Central Park. And yes, I became a member of that annual group of nuts known affectionately as “leef peepers.”
