One of my family’s blessings is our family. I don’t mean ourselves, but Calvin’s grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles and their children.

Although only in its first quarter, 2013 has been well-blessed. We started the year in South Africa with my mom, and Jay’s mom (a.k.a. Grammy) is visiting us for the second time.

Thankfully we have all managed to remain well this time! Calvin promptly spiked a 104F within hours of Grammy’s arrival last time. He was followed by Jay and then I. Grammy’s cast iron immune system resulted in her remaining well throughout, displaying her Professor of Nursing prowess by taking care of the coughing, sneezing, miserable hordes (i.e. Us!)

Thankfully, this time has been different. It’s an annual tradition to celebrate the youngest person’s birthday. Grammy has been here to celebrate every one of Calvin’s birthdays.

So… no envelope-opening anticipation needed, it’s obvious: For these most obvious reasons (and the myriad of ones too many to mention), the Grammy Award clearly goes to… Grammy!
